Exercise Jal Rahat was a flood relief drill that the Indian Army’s Gajraj Corps and other crisis management groups did together on Tuesday at Hagrama Bridge on the Manas River in Assam.
The goal of the practice was to make sure that flood relief was ready for the monsoon floods in the state and to make sure that flood relief columns from different agencies worked together to get ready.

In addition to members of the Indian Army, the drill included members of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), officials from the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), and police officers. At the event, specialist teams worked together to plan and practice rescue tasks to get people out of flooded areas.
Teams from the Army and the SSB showed how to use local resources during a disaster like a flood by putting on a practice session on how to use creative solutions.
