The Uttar Pradesh government and the state-owned aerospace and defense electronics company Bharat Electronics have signed a Rs 445 crore deal.
This deal, which was signed last week, will give the Uttar Pradesh government’s Dial 112 project “complete and state-of-the-art hardware, AI-based software tools and cyber security solutions.” Dial 112 is an emergency response system.
“BEL is pleased to work with the UP Government on this project, which will create one of the largest emergency response systems in Asia. The contract was announced by BEL on Tuesday. “The ecosystem of domestic suppliers, including MSMEs, will be used to carry out this project,” the company said.
The company also said it had received more orders worth Rs 233 crore. These orders are for communication display units, thermal imaging cameras, and other spare parts and services.
Last week, Goa Shipyard Limited (Rs 1,701 crore) and Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (Rs 972 crore) both gave it orders worth Rs 2,673 crore. 14 different kinds of sensors will be sent to be used on Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessels (NGOPV).
Orders worth a total of Rs 26,613 crore have been placed with the state-owned company so far this fiscal year (2023–24).
At the Indian Chamber of Commerce – PSE Excellence Awards earlier on December 20, BEL won five awards, including “Company of the Year,” “Contribution of Women,” “Operational Performance Excellence,” and “CSR & Sustainability.”
Since the beginning of 2023, Bharat Electronics shares have gone up by about 82%. At 12:38 p.m. today, it was Rs 182.85 per share, which is 4.5% more than yesterday.
The central government wants to make Rs. 175,000 crore worth of defense products in India and send Rs. 35,000 crore worth of defense products abroad by 2024-25.
Over the past few years, the government has implemented a number of policies and reforms to encourage the design, development, and production of defense equipment in the country itself. This has led to greater self-reliance in the manufacturing of defense goods.
