On Sunday, the Indian Navy successfully tested-fired a BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from the frontline guided missile cruiser INS Mormugao. An official said the Indian Navy’s firepower at sea was on show.
The source also said that the first BrahMos supersonic cruise missile shot from the INS Mormugao hit the “bulls eye.” It is the latest guided-missile destroyer used by the Indian Navy.
“The ship and her powerful weapon are both made in India, which is another shining example of ‘AatmaNirbharta’ and the Indian Navy’s firepower at sea,” the source said.
That BrahMos Aerospace Pvt Ltd is an India-Russian joint venture that makes supersonic cruise missiles that can be fired from submarines, ships, planes, or land platforms.
India also sends out BrahMos missiles, which fly at 2.8 Mach, or almost three times the speed of sound, It’s not clear where the test-firing of the missile took place.
