Avantel Limited has secured a contract worth ₹117.88 crore from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Ministry of Defence, Government of India, for the development, installation and commissioning of a Ground Segment Hub for voice and data communication.
According to the company’s regulatory disclosure, the contract was dated August 29, 2026, and the total value of the order is ₹117.88 crore, inclusive of applicable taxes. The order is a domestic contract and forms part of Avantel’s business in defence communication and related technologies.
The scope of the contract includes the development, installation and commissioning of the Ground Segment Hub. The project is scheduled to be executed by February 2029, while the agreement carries a warranty period of 36 months.
The latest order highlights the continuing demand for specialised communication infrastructure within India’s defence ecosystem. Ground segment facilities support the terrestrial side of communication networks and can play an important role in enabling voice and data connectivity for defence applications.
For Avantel, the contract adds another sizeable order to its defence-oriented business portfolio. The Hyderabad-based company is engaged in the development of communication and technology solutions, including satellite communication and wireless communication systems.
The order also reflects the growing participation of Indian private-sector technology companies in defence programmes. With the project extending through February 2029 and including a post-completion warranty period, the contract provides a multi-year engagement for the company.
The announcement comes at a time when indigenous defence technologies and communication capabilities remain an important part of India’s broader defence modernisation efforts.
