Now, the Army, Navy, and IAF will try to make sure that their combat drills or war games are really done together. This will help them build an integrated war-fighting system and theater commands in the years to come.
Defense officials said on Monday that it has been decided that all drills from now on will include parts from all three services. Currently, most exercises are done by just one service.
This will be shown in the big IAF war games called “Vayu Shakti” that will be held next year. “Since January, many of the exercises in the eastern theater facing China have been done jointly by the Army, the IAF, the CAPFs, and some civil organizations,” an official said.
Last month, for example, the Army and IAF did drills for “multi-mode insertion of strategic forces” in the eastern theater. This is because tensions are still high along the 3,488-km Line of Actual Control with China, which runs from eastern to Arunachal Pradesh.
