After Terror Attack, J&K’s Infrastructure Projects With More Laborers To Use Stricter Security

All agencies were directed to improve the security of infrastructure projects that are currently under construction during a high-level meeting in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday evening. All such sites will be equipped with adequate deployments and technical surveillance.

Terrorists have resumed their attacks on civilians in Jammu after a lengthy hiatus, a departure from their previous focus on security personnel and civilians in Kashmir. On Monday, DGP J&K Nalin Prabhat presided over a meeting with all stakeholders, during which it was determined that security measures would be intensified at all construction sites, particularly those associated with national projects, according to a senior official. According to sources, the emphasis will also be on the enhancement of technical surveillance and access control.

“There are numerous projects currently in progress in J&K.” The decision has been made to immediately enhance the security measures at these sites.

The DGP underscored the importance of monitoring vehicle movements and exits to prevent terrorists from escaping after executing attacks, in addition to urging all forces to remain on high alert. Security forces will be deployed to sites with a high volume of laborers, and access will be restricted to authorized personnel.

Central Kashmir contains a restricted number of sites with substantial labor populations, in contrast to other regions of Kashmir, which have a greater number of such sites.

Jammu will be another area of focus, as there are numerous ongoing projects and laborers are employed and residing in the surrounding areas.

Seven individuals were killed on Sunday when terrorists opened fire on a camp that housed workers from a private company that was involved in the construction of the Z-Mohr tunnel in the Gund area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. The tunnel connects Gagangir to Sonamarg.

The area was cordoned off by local police and security personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The National Investigation Agency (NIA), the foremost agency responsible for investigating terror attacks, also dispatched teams to the location.

Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) offshoot The Resistance Front (TRF) claimed responsibility for the attacks, which were orchestrated by the terrorist group. It was reported by sources that the attack was carried out by at least two unidentified terrorists. The terrorists targeted the laborers and other staff as they returned to their camp after working on the tunnel project.
