Aero India 2023 is a five-day event that will include delegations from 32 countries, CEOs of defence companies, and more than 800 exhibitors. Through a series of strategic meetings and dialogues, India will push its goal of becoming self-reliant.
PM Modi will open the show on Monday. During the show, a variety of aircraft will perform, and a lot of new technologies and products will be shown in exhibition halls.
But strategic meetings that are happening at the same time are likely to get a lot of attention. Aero India has come a long way since its small beginnings in 1996. It is now Asia’s largest defence and aerospace airshow, and it is expanding to include more than just air shows.
The Indian Ocean Region defence ministers’ conclave was the most important part of the last edition, because India was trying to increase its role in the region in the face of global geopolitical rivalry. This time, defence minister Rajnath Singh will hold a defence ministers’ meet on the side. Singh will also have big defence company CEOs over.
In line with the Centre’s focus on self-reliance, Indian officials and companies will use one-on-one meetings, seminars, and roundtables organised by the industry to advance the country’s interests. Improving India’s defence exports and working together to make advanced technologies will be one of the show’s main strategic goals.
This year, 32 defence ministers, 29 air chiefs, and 73 CEOs of global and Indian companies will take part.
Rajnath Singh, India’s defence minister, said that the “record international participation is a reflection of not only India’s buyer-seller ties with different countries, but also their shared vision of global prosperity.” He added that “Aero India 2023 will show India’s manufacturing prowess and the progress made towards realising a “Aatmanirbhar Bharat.”
This edition will give the Centre a new boost in its efforts to build a strong, world-class defence industry at home so that the country can be self-sufficient in defence and grow as a whole.
“A strong and self-sufficient defence sector will be a key part of India becoming one of the top three economies in the world in the future. Defense accomplishments will have a wide range of positive effects on the Indian economy. Technologies developed on the battlefield can also be used in everyday life “Rajnath said.
At the show, different planes will do different things, but the debut of the DRDO’s UAV Tapas-BH, which stands for Tactical Aerial Platform for Advanced Surveillance (Tapas) Beyond Horizon (BH), is a big deal because it shows what the country can do. Through Aero India, DRDO will show off 330 products and technologies to the rest of the world.
