The Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) has begun development on the 5.5th Generation AMCA stealth fighter jet’s internal weapons bay. AMCA’s internal weapons bay will be larger than the American F-22 Raptor’s internal weapons bay on the bottom fuselage, and it will be able to carry four Rudram-1 New Generation Anti-Radiation Missiles.
The Rudram-1 air-to-ground missile is 5.5 metres long and weighs 600 kilos, which implies that the internal weapons bay of the AMCA can hold six air-to-air missiles due to their slimmer profile.
The first three prototypes of the AMCA will be built by Hindustan Aeronautics for testing the aero structure and identifying any design flaws, followed by three more units for final level testing, which will be built after final level modifications in the first three prototypes, after which two pre-production aircraft will be built and delivered to the Indian Air Force for user testing, and then the procedures for induction will be followed.
