Landmine Explosion On LoC Injures 3 Army Personnel

Three soldiers were hurt when a landmine went off near the Line of Control in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.

A preliminary investigation showed that the workers were checking the Phagwari Gali area in the Mendhar sector when the landmine went off.

Officials said that the hurt soldiers were taken to a nearby hospital, and later, two of them were sent to a military hospital in Rajouri for more specialized care.

Army officials say that landmines are placed in forward places along the LoC as part of a system to stop people from getting in. Natural events like rain, flooding, and soil runoff can move these landmines, which can lead to these kinds of accidents.

Army soldiers with rifles and two mules were hurt last month when two landmines went off along the LoC in Rajouri district. Another Army potter and his horse were hurt in the same kind of blast in Poonch in September.
